Yumen Wind registered with the Gold Standard

Tricorona’s Gansu Yumen Diwopu Wind Power project (GS837) in China has been approved and registered with the Gold Standard. Yumen is the 13th CDM project developed by Tricorona to be registered with the Gold Standard.

The wind power project is located in Gansu Province in China. The project has contributed to sustainable development by creating employment opportunities, enhancing the local investment environment and improving the local economy. The project also contributes to poverty alleviation through income and employment generation.

The installed capacity of the wind farm is 49.5MW and the project will supply the local grid with over 100,000MWh of renewable electricity per year. By displacing an equivalent amount of coal based electricity, the project reduces over 100,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions per year.

The project was registered with the CDM Executive Board on February 24th 2010 (UNFCCC ID 2680). For more information on the project, please visit the UNFCCC website or the Gold Standard Registry.

The Gold Standard is an award winning certification standard for carbon mitigation projects and is recognized internationally as the benchmark for quality and rigor in both the compliance and voluntary carbon markets.
