Tricorona meets with CDM beneficiaries at the European Parliament
On March 1st, Tricorona attended the IETA-organized "Meet the Beneficiaries" event at the European Parliament in Brussels meant to give a voice to local spokespeople to explain their experience with the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).
The event was attended by the UNFCCC, EU-representatives and CDM project developers. The purpose of the event was to discuss how the CDM has aided developing countries in achieving sustainable development, one of the stated goals of the CDM in addition to reduced greenhouse gas emissions.
Susanne Häfeli-Hestvik, Technical Director and Vice President at Tricorona says "I'm astonished of the strength in this mechanism to attract foreign investment to remote locations and thereby contribute to reduced climate change, improved sustainable development and a positive impact on gender issues. I hope politicians understand the impact of their decisions and that the CDM can be continued for many years".
